News and updates
Hi!
What a great start to the year we have had so far! I can't believe we have made it through our second 6 week cycle. So far we have discovered the three regions of North Carolina, what it means to eat and stay healthy, how early settlers lived, fossils, dinosaurs, earth quakes, volcanoes, weathering, 3 rock types, the rock cycle, visited Discovery Place, and visited with a real live paleontologist from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In math we have studied multiplication, division, and now area and perimeter!!! Whew!
OUR BRAINS HAVE GROWN!!!
We have been working hard, no doubt, however; we still have a lot of growing to do and that's where YOU come in!
The best way to help your child continue to be successful is to make sure they spend some time every evening READING! Listen to them read, ask questions, read with them and to them! The more words your child is exposed to the better. I read to and/or with your child every day!
If you can not read with your child (I understand life is so busy!!!) have them visit the reading resources page here on the weebly. There are many activity sites that are excellent practice and proven to help readers grow.
I have a huge goal for my class.... that every one of my students is reading on a level "T" by the end of the year. this will fully prepare them for 5th grade and future success I promise! Please join me in working toward this goal. It's a huge, gaudy, lofty, scary, goal but I know we can do it if we set our minds to it and commit to do the work!
